LINCOLN — Karen Marie Kucera, 64, Lincoln, died May 18, 2025. Karen was born Sept. 7, 1960, in Sioux City, to Francis “Pat” and Rose “Betty” (Day) Kneifl. She graduated from Newcastle High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College. Karen married Michael Kucera April 22, 1989, at St Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle. They made their home in Lincoln for the past 32 years. Karen had just recently retired from USCIS where she worked as an adjudicator. Karen’s family and faith were very important to her. She loved caring for her family, praying for them, cooking, baking, singing and gift giving. Karen is survived by her husband, Mike and their children, Andy (wife, Alex) Kucera and their daughter, Charlotte, Zac Kucera and Megan Kucera. She is also survived by her siblings, Leland Kneifl, David Kneifl, Alan (wife, Carol) Kneifl and her twin brother, Kevin (wife, Marge) Kneifl, and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was May 23 at St John the Apostle Catholic Church, Lincoln, with Father Lyle Johnson celebrating the Mass.

Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery. Rosary was Thursday evening at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation was Thursday at the church.
