HARTINGTON — Dean Robert Lammers, 67, Hartington, died suddenly Dec. 20, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. He is the husband of Teresa Lammers.

Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 24 at Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church, Bow Valley, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.

Burial was at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Bow Valley. Pallbearers were John Lammers, Craig Lammers, Bo Moysis, Weston Moysis, Wesley Wortmann, Tracy Lammers, Curtis Becker and Roger Sudbeck.

Honorary pallbearers were Dean’s grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Visitation and a vigil service were Monday, at church, and continued Tuesday morning one hour prior to services. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Dean Robert was born July 10, 1957, to Alfred Norbert and Loretta Christine (Loecker) Lammers. He grew up on the family farm four miles north of Bow Valley and lived there his entire life. He graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in 1975. Dean married Teresa Mae Goeden Sept. 1, 1979, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee. Dean farmed with his dad and raised livestock, hogs, cattle and chickens, and grain. He was a proud recipient of the 100-year Homestead award.

Dean enjoyed taxidermy work for many years alongside his brother, Daryl.

Dean was a member of Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church, and loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He especially enjoyed coyote hunting. Dean was a sports fan. In his younger years. Before marriage, Dean played baseball for Bow Valley. He was an avid Husker fan and loved watching games with family. He always seemed to have a grandkid or two along with him to help on the farm, he treasured his time with them.

Dean is survived by his wife, Teresa, Hartington; his three children, Rachel (Travis) Guenther, Bow Valley; Megan (Ryan) Marsh, Hartington; Myles (Miranda) Lammers, Hartington; five siblings, Deanna (Clair) Sudbeck, Yankton, S.D.; Dale (Dolores) Lammers, Hartington; Daryl Lammers, Hartington; Terrance (Janice) Lammers, Bow Valley; Bonnie Jensen, Mission Hill, S.D.; sister-in-law, Nancy Lammers, Omaha; and many in-laws on Teresa’s side of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Loretta Lammers; brother, David Lammers; sisterin- law, Joan Lammers; brother-in-law, Randy Jensen.
