Hartington-Newcastle girls have no trouble against LCC

Posted in:

LAUREL - 7-0 was the theme of the night.

Having not lost yet in 2019, a win over LCC last Tuesday night would make the Lady Wildcats 7-0 in 2019.

So it was very fitting for Harting- ton-Newcastle to start the game on a 7-0 run to take an early lead and never look back.

The hot start out of the gate is one of the sharp contrasts of this team from the beginning of the year, and is a large part of the winning streak, said head coach Corey Uldrich.

“It is really important because we have played a lot of basketball in the past few weeks and early in the year we didn’t start games well. We dug ourselves some big holes and needed to fight back so the start tonight was pretty refreshing to see us come out ready to play and get after it.”

Hartington-Newcastle never relinquished the early lead and went on to win 53-38 to continue the win streak.

HNS was led by senior Willa Scoville scoring 10 points in the first half, as many as the entire LCC team had to go into halftime. She finished with 16, tied with Abbe Morten for the game-high.
