Wayne State College releases fall 2023 Dean’s List
WAYNE – Wayne State College included 1,312 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Fall 2023 semester. Students listed on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester. An asterisk (*) denotes a 4.0 GPA for the term.

LCNRD releases fall 2023 district well measurements
HARTINGTON – The static water level of 34 irrigation wells from selected locations throughout the Lewis and Clark Natural Resources District is measured in the fall and spring each year. The summer of 2023 was the second season of higher than usual irrigation demands and lower than usual rainfall amounts. Many of the wells measured in local aquifers showed average water levels higher than the fall of 2022 with 21 of 34 wells indicating moderately higher water levels. Spring water levels are the primary gage for evaluating aquifer response because water levels have recovered from the pumping season the prior year.

Chemigation Applicator Training 2024 being offered
LINCOLN – The Nebraska Chemigation Act was passed in 1987 to help ensure that the backflow of chemicals would not contaminate the ground and surface waters of the state from irrigation water application systems used to apply crop nutrients and pesticides (chemigation). The law requires producers who plan to apply fertilizer or pesticide through an irrigation system to be certified by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEE). Certification is valid for four years, and training is provided through UNL Extension.

Hartington FFA Chapter participates in Livestock Judging contest
NORFOLK – The Hartington Newcastle FFA Chapter traveled to Northeast Community College,, Norfolk, Jan. 23 to compete at the FFA District Livestock Judging competition. Eighteen students took to the challenge to judge eight classes of beef, sheep, goats, and swine.
