Zita M. Boeckman

WYNOT — Zeta M. Boeckman, 89, Wynot, died March 11, 2018, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation and a Vigil service were March 14, at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot, and continued one hour prior to services Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial was March 15 at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot, with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wynot. Pallbearers were grandsons Justin Boeckman, Chad Boeckman, Jason Felber, Broderick Diez, Derek Boeckman and Kyle Boeckman. Honorary pallbearers were Andy Felber, Sheena Fehringer, Sarah Miller, Candace Trobaugh, Ryan Boeckman, Megan Bruning, Craig Boeckman and Jody Boeckman. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, NE. Zeta Marie Boeckman was born July 4, 1928, in Newcastle, to Henry and Carrie (Richards) Day. She grew up in Newcastle on the family farm. Zeta married Jerome Boeckman Aug. 23, 1949, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle. Twelve children were born to this union. Zeta loved crocheting and made beautiful doilies, afghans, and potholders. She also loved cooking, baking and gardening. She fed calves for many years on the farm. Zeta belonged to Holy Family parish and the Catholic Daughters of America. Zeta is survived by her husband, Jerome; her ten children and spouses, Janice (Perry) Sherman, Newcastle; Joyce (Al) Bittner, Lennox, S.D.; Richard (Donna) Boeckman, St. Helena; Mick (Karen) Boeckman, Wynot; Chuck Boeckman, Wynot; Don (Angie) Boeckman, Wynot; LuAnn (Bob) Felber, Tabor, S.D.; Loren (Connie) Boeckman, Wynot; Pam Bruning and fiance Tony Kalin, Coleridge; and Cathy (Dave) Diez, Gretna; two sisters, Betty Kneifl, Newcastle, and Gert (Alphonse) Wiepen, St. Helena; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren. Zeta was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Romaine and MaryLou; sister, Marjorie Pinkelman; two brothers, Jerry Day and Fran Day; brothers-in-law, Pat Kneifl and Leonard Pinkelman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe & Sylvia Peitz; and brothers-in-law Ralph, Jimmy and Rudy Boeckman.
