Youth wrestling team earns Class C State title

Posted in:

GRAND ISLAND — The League of Heroes spent last weekend in Grand Island at the Nebraska USA State Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament.

The tournament had about 2,000 of the top wrestlers from each weight class in the state. Preschool-Jr. High competed for two days at the Heartland Event Center.

There were 195 teams that scored points, and out of those teams, the League of Heroes placed 12.

The Hartington Heroes also took the Class C Title.

Coach Schrempp couldn’t be happier with the wrestlers and their accomplishments.

“There is no doubt in my mind we are on our way to building a dynasty team,” he said. “A state title as a team is within these kids reach if they stick together into high school. I don’t only see one title, I see many, and I can’t wait to see what these kids do in the future. They are setting the bar high this season for themselves and future Heroes. Keep up the great work parents. You are raising great kids and it’s so fun and easy to coach them.”

Coach Schrempp, Becker, Freeman and Kruse put in a lot of time and worked hard to get these wrestlers where they are today. The Club is very thankful for them.

Here are the local placings from the 2019 State Tournament.

Program coordinators Beau and Jen Bensen said the group is also thankful for all of the local support they have received.

“We also want to thank all of our sponsors. Without them, it would be much harder to accomplish our goals we have set out for ourselves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are our Heroes,” they said.
