Wynot travels to Valentine for District title game

Posted in:

WYNOT — Wynot continued down the road to defending their state title last week.

Their next step on that journey will entail a long road trip.

The Lady Blue Devils travel to Valentine Friday to take on Crawford for the District title and the right to go to next week’s Class D2 State Tournament.

Wynot rolled to two huge subdistrict wins over Emerson Hubbard, 62-5 and Randolph, 53-10, and will now battle Crawford, 5:30 p.m., Friday, at Valentine.

The Lady Blue Devils (23-4) will go in as the No. 4 seed against a respectable Crawford (15-10) outfit.

“They have a nice ball team and like to press full court and have some good shooters,” Wynot head coach Steve Wieseler said. “It should be a good game and a fun atmosphere for both schools to be part of.”

Two big routs heading into the contest may not hurt either.

“Our girls got off to a good start in both the games and played well with all the girls getting a lot of playing time,” Wieseler said.
