Wynot One Act takes a trip down the rabbit hole
WYNOT — The Wynot High School one-act play team has had quite the level of success over the years and this fall nothing seems to indicate that will change.
Led by coach Heather Heimes, the Wynot team will try to make it to the D2 state finals for a fourth time in her seven years, having either been champs or runners up in district competition in all but one of her seasons in charge.
Last year, Wynot fell short of a state bid, losing out to Chambers.
“We have always done better with dramas in getting to state and stuff like that,” Heimes said. “The greatest strength we have is numbers and we have a lot of seniors and juniors who do a good job of coaching the younger kids.
“It’s always between us and Chambers to go to state, not to say another team couldn’t do it.”
Heimes’ crew will put on Jason Pizzarello’s adaptation of ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ another drama that seems to fit her roster’s skills.
This version is a more dramatic version of the classic tale.
“It leads into that Alice’s twin sister dies in a car accident and she is grieving and gets down after the funeral,” Heimes said. “Then the Alice in Wonderland part plays out and you find out that the twin is stuck in the land of Alice in Wonderland.”
The kids get to pick between a comedy, drama or a musical each year and this year it’s about putting on a drama.
