Wynot girls tame the N-V Lady Cougars

NIOBRARA — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils continued their winning ways on Tuesday night as they mauled the Niobrara-Verdigre Lady Cougars 58-30.

Wynot would rain in nine 3-pointers for the game and shot 47 percent from the field for the game as they improved their season record to 11-2.

Niobrara-Verdigre’s record fell to 5-9 for the season.

Michaela Lange led the Lady Blue Devils as she nailed four treys on her way to a game-high 18 points.

Wynot also got a pair of 3-pointers each from Autumn Lawson and Katelyn Heine and one from Emersyn Sudbeck as they were on target from long range, connecting on 50 percent of their shots from behind the arc.

Niobrara-Verdigre was paced by Bree Breithaupt with seven points and they got six points each from Summer Guenther and Emily Parks.

Summer Guenther hit a pair of buckets early for the Lady Cougars but Wynot answered with a pair of treys by Katelyn Heine and five points from Michaela Lange as they raced to a 16-8 first quarter lead. In the second quarter the Lady Cougars tried to keep Wynot in check with a trey by Senna Swalley and a pair of buckets in close by Emily Parks. The Lady Blue Devils would stay hot as they got five points each from Michaela Lange and Autumn Lawson and a basket each from Shaelee Planer, Kaitlyn Heimes and Emersyn Sudbeck to increase their lead to 31-17 at halftime.

The Lady Devils would turn up the defensive pressure in the third quarter holding the Lady Cougars to a single feildgoal and one freethrow.

Reserves mopped up in the final quarter as the Lady Cougars got four points from Bree Breithaupt and Wynot got a pair of buckets from Whitney Hochstein as the Blue Devils earned the 58-30 win.
