WYNOT — The Wynot volleyball team got off to a good start winning their annual September tournament, defeating Hartington-Newcastle 2-1 in the first match of the tourney, then sweeping Crofton for the team title.

In the opener, Wynot took charge early and raced out to a 25-17 win over the Lady Cats.

Solid defense was a big key to Wynot’s win. Wynot went down for a whopping 87 digs. Karley Heimes paced the Devil defense with 23 digs of her own.

Whitney Hochstein controlled the action at the net against Hartington with seven kills and four blocks. Edyn and Emersyn Sudbeck shared setting duties in this one, with Edyn dishing out 15 set assists and Emersyn coming up with 12.

The Lady Cats’ Kayden Jueden kept asking for the ball all night long, and once she had it, she was able to deliver for a game-high 17 kills. Alivia Morten set her up throughout the contest, dishing out 19 set assists.
