Wynot girls roll to big win over Walthill

WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils had little trouble dispatching the Walthill Lady Blue Jays on Thursday night in Wynot. The Lady Blue Devils dominated both ends of the court as they rolled to a 55-11 win on parents night.

Wynot would place 12 players in the scorebook as everyone saw extensive playing time.

The Blue Devils were led by Krystal Sudbeck with seven points, six points each from Karley Heimes and Kinslee Heimes along with five points each from Kendra Pinkelman, Emersyn Sudbeck, Lauren Haberman and Ella Brummer.

Walthill got four points from Kesley Wide Eyes and a three pointer from Lily Phillips to lead the Blue Jays offense.

Wynot full court pressure would rattle the Lady Jays in the opening quarter as the Blue Devils went on a big 26-0 first quarter run.

In the second quarter Walthill got a trey by Lily Phillips and two buckets inside from Kesley Wide Eyes. Wynot got buckets from their reserves Kinslee Heimes, Krystal Sudbeck, Amy Tramp and Alllison Wieseler as they increased their lead to 42-7 at halftime.

Wathill’s offense in the third quarter consisted of a pair of free throws by Tylish McCauly. Wynot got three pointers by Edyn Sudbeck and Kendra Pinkelman as they built their advantage to 50-9 after three periods.

In the final frame the Lady Devils would get baskets from Krystal Sudbeck and Allison Wieseler to make the final margin 55-11.

The Wynot Lady Blue Devils continued their winning ways on Tuesday when they travelled across the river to take on the Irene-Wakonda Lady Eagles. This game was tightly contested all the way as the Lady Blue Devils built a 28-24 halftime advantage and had to struggle to hang onto the lead in the second half to earn the 48-42 win.

Wynot was led by Autumn Lawson who finished with 12 points and Edyn Sudbeck who helped out with a trio of three pointers for her nine points.

Irene Wakonda got a game high 16 points from Nora O’Malley and 13 points from Katie Knodel.

The Lady Eagles stayed in the game as they held an 18-3 advantage from the free throw line as a team.

The two teams traded baskets in the opening quarter. Wynot got a pair of treys by Autumn Lawson and one by Edyn Sudbeck. Irene Wakonda countered with seven points by Nora O’Malley and a bucket by Emma Orr as they were tied at 15-15 at the end of one period.

In the second quarter the Lady Eagles go a trey by Mckenna Mork and went four for six from the line. Wynot got another three pointer each from Edyn Sudbeck and Autumn Lawson along with a pair of buckets in close by Amy Tramp to go on a 13-9 run and lead 28-24 at halftime.

Scoring was tougher to come by after halftime. In the third quarter Wynot would earn an 11-9 scoring advantage. Wynot got 3-pointers by Emersyn Sudbeck and Lauren Haberman. Irene-Wakonda got five points from Nora O’Malley and a basket from Katie Knodel to lead their offense.

Each team would only score nine points in the final quarter, as well. Karley Heimes connected for five points and Kinslee Heimes hit a driving layin for Wynot. Irene Wakonda got four points by Emma Marshall and three points by Katie Knodel but the Blue Devils hung on for the 48-42 win.
