HUMPHREY — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils split a pair of games over the Christmas break at the Humphrey Holiday Tournament.

On Friday night, the Lady Blue Devils were beaten by the Humphrey St. Francis Lady Flyers by a final of 66-50, but rebounded to down the York Lady Dukes, 45-38, in the consolation game on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, the high flying Lady Flyers got a super performance by Allison Weidner, who poured in 35 points to lead her team to the first round win over the Lady Blue Devils. Weidner was nearly unstoppable as she consistently took the ball to the hoop, either scoring or drawing the foul. She would hit 13 of 15 from the line to help her scoring totals.

Wynot was led by Shaelee Planer and Michaela Lange, who scored 15 and 14 points respectively. Katelyn Heine also knotched double figures with her 10-point effort.

In the first quarter of the St. Francis game, Wynot got a 3-pointer from Kaitlyn Heimes and a pair of buckets from Shaelee Planer to lead their offense. The Lady Flyers got seven points by Allison Weidner and four points by Caitlin Jarosz, to earn an early 17-12 lead.

In the second period, Wynot got a trey by Michaela Lange and four more points by Shaelee Planer. St. Francis got six more points by Weidner and buckets by Kyleigh Sjuts and Lauren Pfeifer as they expanded their lead to 30-21 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Wynot tried to rally with five points by Katelyn Heine and a 3-pointer by Emersyn Sudbeck but the Lady Flyers would hold them off with five points by Lauren Pfeifer and Allison Weidner connected for nine more points, including going 7-7 from the charity stripe to maintain Humphrey’s lead at 45-34.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Lady Blue Devils would make a run. A pair of 3-pointers by Michaela Lange, one by Kaitlyn Heine and five more points from Shaelee Planer would fuel the charge. The Lady Flyers would not fold, however, as they put the ball in Weidner’s hands and she responded with 12 more points to give the Lady Flyers the 66-50 win
