Wynot boys split a pair to open the new basketball season

Posted in:

WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils opened their 2019-2020 basketball season with a trip to Bloomfield to take on the Bees.

It did not go well for the Blue Devils as they were ice cold shooting the ball and had 20 turnovers, helping the Bees roll to the 56-32 win.

Long scoring droughts in the first and third quarter would play a big part in the Blue Devils’ demise.

Bloomfield was led by the stellar play of their point guard Braden Eisenhower who led all scorers with 18 points.

The Bees also got doublefigure scoring from Dade Davis with 14 points and Gabe Lauch contributed 11 points to the win.

Wynot was paced by Garrett Lange with eight points and Anthony Haberman with seven points.

The basket seemed to have a lid on it for the Blue Devils in the first quarter as they got a lone trey by Anthony Haberman and that was it for their scoring.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield got eight points from Braden Eisenhower and seven points from Dade Davis along with balanced scoring as the Bees raced to a 19-3 early lead.

Wynot would show some signs of life in the second quarter with four points each from Garrett Lange and Anthony Haberman but Bloomfield would minimize the damage with three pointers by Dade Davis and Cody Bruegman as the Bees lead 31-17 at the half.

Wynot tried to rally from long range in the second half but they went 1-20 from behind the arc for the game.

Bloomfield continued to build on their lead in the third quarter as they got a couple of baskets each on the inside from Gabe Lauch and Dalton Gieselman and the Bees increased their lead to 49-20 going into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter Wynot got five points from Garrett Lange but Dade Davis hit a pair of baskets for Bloomfield as they earned the win by a final score of 56-32.

Dean Kruger and Dax Behemer led the Winside Wildcats with four points each.
