Wynot boys roll past Allen in SubDist. action

HARTINGTON — The Wynot Blue Devils used big second and third quarter scoring runs to down the Allen Eagles Tuesday night in the first round of D2-4 SubDistricts at Monsignor Werner Activity Center.

The Blue Devils would outscore the Eagles 34-5 in those two periods as they cruised to the 49-22 win.

The Blue Devils got balanced scoring with 10 players entering the scoring column lead by Landon Wieseler’s 12 points, 9 points by Nate Wieseler and 7 points each from Corbin Sudbeck and Ethan Lange. Defense played a big role in the outcome as the Blue Devils also earned a 27-13 advantage in turnovers in the game.

Allen was led by Brogan Jones with eight points and ve rebounds and Luke Oswald with seven points.

Both teams came out tight in the opening quarter. Allen got a pair of eld goals from Luke Oswald. Wynot struggled early missing several bunnies in the paint but got a late bucket each from Corbin Sudbeck and Nate Wieseler as they earned the 7-6 lead at the end of one quarter of play.

Oswald hit a trey for Allen to open the second quarter but after that Wynot shut down the Eagles. Landon Wieseler got the hot hand pouring in 10 points in the period and Nate Wieseler hit a trey as the Blue Devils went on a 17-3 run to lead 24-9 at the half.

In the third quarter Wynot kept the pressure on defensively holding Allen to a single bucket. Nate Wieseler and Ethan Lange score ve points each and Ben Hite drained a three pointer as the Blue Devils went on a 17-3 run to take command with a 41- 11 lead going into the nal quarter.

In the fourth reserves mopped up. Allen got six points from Brogan Jones and three points by Reed Hingst. Wynot coun- tered with three points by Ethan Hochstein and an offensive put-back by Hunter Heimes as they advanced with the 48-22 win.
