Wynot boys cruise to 2-0 start

BLOOMFIELD — The Wynot Blue Devils opened their basketball season with a big 64-44 win over Bloomfield.

Wynot built a 23-point lead at halftime and then rode out the second half to earn the 64-44 win.

The win overshadowed the big 27-point performance of Bloomfield’s Layne Warrior.

Wynot had a balanced attack led by Dylan Heine’s 20 points and Chase Schroeder’s 16. Eight other players contributed to the win for the Blue Devils.

Layne Warrior had five points and Keldon Loecker hit a trey for Bloomfield in the opening quarter. Wynot countered with six points by Dylan Heine, four points by Chase Schroeder and a trey by Andrew Haberman to earn an 18-10 first quarter advantage.

Wynot would widen their lead as they went on a 21-6 second quarter run. Nine more points by Dylan Heine and six points off the bench by Kasen Koch led the way for the Blue Devils. Bloomfield got a bucket each from Warrior and Benjamin Dodge. Wynot held the 39-16 lead at halftime.

Layne Warrior tried to rally the Bees in the third quarter hitting for 10 points six of which came from the charity stripe. Wynot was able to maintain the lead with 5 points by Zack Foxhoven, 4 more points from Chase Schroeder and another trey by Dylan Heine as they took a 53-30 lead into the final quarter.

Layne Warrior continued to carry the load for the Bees with eight more fourth-quarter points. Wynot shut down the comeback attempt with four more points by Chase Schroeder and a three-pointer by Devin Brummer, along with baskets by Carter Hans and Dylan Heine to make the final tally 64- 42 Blue Devils.

WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils picked up another lopsided win Friday when they rolled to a 6438 win over the Winside Wildcats.

The boys in blue used a huge first half scoring burst to build a 38-9 lead at halftime and rotated the reserves throughout the second half to maintain the big winning margin.

Wynot placed three players in double figures led by Kasen Koch with 13 points. Joseph Sudbeck had a solid first half contributing 12 points and Andrew Haberman hit a pair of threes on his way to 10 points.

Winside’s Kaden Hunt had a big second half to take scoring honors for the game with 17 points and Gavin Schutt chipped in with eight points for the Wildcats.

Wynot’s defense controlled the opening quarter limiting the Wildcats offense to a single basket.

Wynot’s offense got three pointers from Dylan Heine and Joseph Sudbeck and a basket plus one from Kasen Koch to take a 14-2 lead at end of one quarter.

Winside got baskets from Gavin Schutt, Jayden Aschoff and Caleb Offner in the second quarter.

Wynot would kick their offense into high gear. Six points from Kasen Koch, five points by Joseph Sudbeck and four points from Dylan Heine fueled the 24-7 run to increase Wynot’s lead to 38-9 at halftime.

Winside tried to rally early in the third quarter behind a trey by Kaden Hunt and baskets by Tucker Burns, Cameran Bilstein and Jayden Aschoff. Wynot would not give in as they got treys by Carson Wieseler and Killian Steinhaus and putbacks by Chase Schroeder and Kasen Koch that helped the Blue Devils maintain a 51-20 advantage.

The Wildcats got some offense rolling in the final quarter behind a pair of treys by Kaden Hunt and four points from Gavin Schutt and Caleb Offner. Wynot countered with three pointers by Korbin Guenther, Andrew Haberman and Carson Wieseler to keep the final score at 64-38.
