PONCA — The Creighton Bulldogs had an easy time against Wynot in the Lewis and Clark Conference consolation game.
Creighton ended up doubling up the score, earning a 70-35 win over the Blue Devils.
Creighton had the upper hand as they hit 28-56 field goals for 50 percent from the field for the night. Wynot went 12 for 43 for 25 percent.
Wynot had no answer for Creighton’s freshman guard John Mitchell as he burned the nets for a game high 27 points. Cade Hammer and Conner Hammer each also hit double figures in the game with 13 and 12 points respectively.
Anthony Haberman would rain in four 3-pointers on his way to 18 points to lead the Blue Devils. Trystan Heimes was next with his 4 points.
The Blue Devils struggled mightily in the opening quarter. Creighton had no trouble scoring as John Mitchell hit for nine points and Cade and Conner Hammer each drilled a three pointer as the Bulldog built a early 17-6 lead.
The second quarter saw Anthony Haberman hit a pair of three pointer on his way to eight points and Trystan Heimes hit a bucket in the paint for the Blue Devils. Cade Hammer buried a pair of 3-pointers and Carson Lilly hit a couple of buckets as Creighton continued to build their lead to 33-17 at the half.
In the third quarter the Bulldog continued to roll behind a pair of treys by Cade Hammer and one by Conner Hammer as they went on a 16-8 run to increase their lead to 49-25 going into the final period. Wynot got a 3-pointer by Peyton Wieseler and buckets by Trystan Heimes and Owen Sudbeck.
The fourth quarter saw Anthony Haberman knock down a pair of treys but that was the only shots Wynot would hit from the field. Meanwhile John Mitchell would add 12 points to his totals in the quarter as the Bulldogs pulled away for the lopsided 70-35 win.
