Woman arrested for role in pivot wiring thefts

HARTINGTON - Another individual faces charges related to thefts of center pivot wiring in Cedar County.

Kailee Davis, 37, currently housed at the Antelope County Jail in Neligh, faces five counts of felony criminal mischief and one count of misdemeanor theft for her alleged role in cutting and taking center pivot wiring at five separate Cedar County farms this summer, as well as the theft of a sign from a Belden property.

Davis was allegedly seen on a game camera located at one of the sites where wire was cut and stolen. During the investigation, a sheriff s deputy located cut wire along field fence lines alongside rural county roads. Davis’ arrest was a result of a joint investigation with the Nebraska State Patrol and the Cedar County Sheriff s Office. Replacing the wiring at all locations was estimated at more than $60,000 combined.

Chris Barta, Irene, S.D., and Phelan Schwager, Randolph, were also implicated in the same criminal mischief and wire theft incidents.
