Wildcats suffer OT loss in Uldrich Bowl II

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Dave Uldrich had a storm of mixed emotions at the conclusion of Friday night’s District football game here.

The game featured the second-ever meeting between son and father, Dave and Corey Uldrich.

The veteran Allen coach earned the victory last year in Allen. This year it looked like his son’s team would garner the ‘W.’

But Dave Uldrich’s Allen Eagles refused to give up and rallied to earn the 34-28 overtime win.

“I was so happy for my team when we scored in overtime and then I looked across the field and saw Corey’s head drop,” Dave Uldrich said. “He knows how the world of coaching works, but he’s still my son.”

The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats had built a 22-20 lead through three quarters thanks to a 27-yard touchdown play from Shaye Morten to Kobe Heitman.
