Wayne, Dakota counties report first COVID-19 cases

Posted in:

WAYNE — Both Wayne and Dakota counties had their first case of COVID-19 confirmed by the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department on Saturday.

According to a press release, the Wayne County victim is a man in his 70s who has been isolating at home.

The health department is investigating the situation to identify any close contacts who may need to be contacted and provided with appropriate isolation and quarantine guidelines.

An investigation has also begun to determine how the man became exposed to the virus. It was also erroneously reported by an area television station that Cedar County had recorded its coronavirus  case, but that is not true, said Northeast Nebraska Public Health Director Julie Rother.
