LAW LOG Sept. 16: Driver hits deer west of Obert.

Woman reports man jumping in front of her vehicle near the Highway 81 and 12 intersection. Another caller informs that the man said his vehicle broke down and he needs assistance.

Rescue unit called to campground for woman with medical issue, transported to Yankton, S.D., hospital.

Sept. 17: Rescue unit called to Crofton facility with transport to Norfolk hospital.

Woman asks for a welfare check on a co-worker who had made suicidal remarks and was paranoid about an ex-boyfriend. Officers check for the woman in several places and talk to neighbors. About five hours after initial report, woman is contacted and states that she is fine.

Caller reports semi driving on shoulder, driving into Pierce County.

Electrical transformer reportedly blew in Coleridge. Cedar-Knox Public Power called.

Woman reports vehicle in the ditch one mile north of Coleridge on Highway 57, can see someone moving around in the car, rescue unit called. Driver believes to be in a different state, no damage to vehicle, driver transported to Yankton, S.D., hospital. A family member calls and says driver may have had a medical emergency. Driver was in the area visiting a relative in South Dakota.

Sept. 18: Rescue unit called to Magnet residence for lift assist.

Welfare check requested for a teenager in Coleridge. Officer makes contact and finds the girl overslept and should be in school the next day.

Dixon County transfers a 911 call regarding a grass fire or vehicle fire on Highway 20. Fire out and tow company called to get vehicle out of ditch.

Rescue unit called to Randolph residence for woman with medical issue, transported to Sioux City, Iowa, hospital.

Man reports a vehicle in South Yankton full of junk that the driver can’t hardly see out of it. Provides description and plate number.

911 call transferred to Yankton.

Sept. 19: Dixon County relays information about a couple potentially panhandling.

Cows reported out west of Highway 12.

Yankton police report a potentially abandoned vehicle on the Nebraska side of the river.

Sept. 20: Woman reports seeing a strange object in the sky one mile north of Highway 81 and 84, doesn’t believe it was a drone.

Burn permit issued for Craig Bartels, Rose Schieffer.

Two reports come in regarding a suspicious person on Highway 57 between Coleridge and Hartington. Officer checks it out and finds vehicle had run out of gas.

Madison County calls about an arson investigation.

House reportedly on fire in Hartington.

Rescue unit called to Hartington residence for woman with medical issue, transported to Yankton, S.D. hospital.

County roads office reports 885 and 568 Roads now open to traffic.

Man reports grain trucks speeding in South Yankton.

Officers conduct traffic enforcement and give citation for speeding.

Rescue unit called to Randolph residence for man with medical issue, transported to Osmond hospital.

Caller reports man he doesn’t know making threats through social media. The accused call next and asks if the first man called about him making threats. “He threatened me first and was flirting with my girlfriend and I don’t go for that.” Dispatcher advises to let the officers handle the situation but he insists on driving to the man’s house. “You can’t tell me what to do,” he said.

Sept. 21: Alarm company notifies of motion detection at a South Yankton business. Officers secure the business and nothing seems to be disturbed, will get key holder contact information for future calls.
