Veterans Day plans are altered by COVID

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — COVID-19 is claiming YET another victim.

The traditional Veterans’ Day ceremonies will not be held this year in Hartington.

An altered, shortened program will be held instead of the traditional ceremonies at the Courthouse, nursing home and schools.

The public is invited to attend a Veterans’ Day program Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 2:45 p.m., at the Msgr. Werner Activity Center. There will be limited seating, however, to insure proper social distancing.

Students in grades 7-12 will attend the event. All of those in attendance will be required to wear a mask.

The traditional Veterans Day meal at the VFW has also been cancelled this year.

Veterans will still make sure patriotism is on display here, though as they will still put up flags around the Cedar County Courthouse.
