Two Cedar County teams start season in Top 10
LINCOLN — Two Cedar County football teams have caught the eye of statewide sportswriters.
Cedar Catholic and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge are ranked in the Top 10 in all three statewide football polls
Cedar is ranked seventh by both Huskerland Prep Report and the Omaha World Herald. The Lincoln Journal Star has the Trojans ranked ninth in C2.
LCC is ranked Seventh by the Omaha World Herald, ninth by Huskerland Prep Report and 10th by the Lincoln Journal Star.
Both teams are coming off of successful 2020 campaigns. The Trojans compiled an 8-3 record, while LCC put together a 6-4 mark.
This marks a return to the pre-season ratings for Cedar Catholic after a one-year hiatus.
The Trojans had been rated in the pre-season rankings every year since 2008, but were overlooked in last year’s pre-season polls.
The Trojans surprised the experts, though, and put together a solid season to finish the year in the Top 10.
Here is a look at this year’s statewide polls.
