Trojans earn third seed in MidStates tourney

NORFOLK — The Cedar Catholic boys earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming MidStates Conference Tournament, while the Lady Trojans were seeded seventh.

Seeding for the Lewis and Clark Tournament had not been released by press time, so no schedule for Wynot or Hartington-Newcastle was made available.

The Cedar County News website will post that schedule when it becomes available.

The Trojans are set to take on the No. 6 seed. Battle Creek on Jan. 30 at 7:45 p.m. in Albion at Boone Central High School.

The Cardinals will take on Crofton in the No. 2 versus No. 7 game at 6 p.m.

Wayne took the top seed and will take on the winner of a play-in game between No. 8 Guardian Angels Central Catholic and No. 9 Pierce.

O’Neill will take on Norfolk Catholic in Wayne at 7:45 on Jan. 30.

The winners in the first round will play in West Point on Feb. 2 at Guardian Angels Central Catholic with the finals scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 3.

A third-place game is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. at Guardian Angels on Feb. 3.

The consolation bracket will open at the Monsignor Werner Activities Center on Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

The consolation finals are set for Feb. 3 at GACC at 11:45 a.m.

The Lady Trojans will take on the No. 2 seed, Guardian Angels in West Point on Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. with Battle Creek and Boone Central on the other half of the bracket set to tip off at 7:45.

Crofton, the No. 1 seed will take on the winner of No. 8 O’Neill and No. 9 Wayne in Crofton at 6 p.m. on Jan. 29 with No. 4 Pierce taking on No. 5 Norfolk Catholic in the other half of the bracket.

The semifinals are scheduled for Feb. 1 at GACC at 6 and 7:45 p.m. with the finals slated for 5 p.m. on Feb.3 also in West Point.

The third-place game is set to tip at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 3 at GACC.

The consolation bracket is slated for Feb. 1 at Cedar Catholic at 6 and 7:45 p.m. with the consolation finals scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 3 in West Point.
