Town Hall Talking Points

Approximately two dozen people attended the Town Hall meeting Monday to hear about the proposed half cent sales tax increase proposed by the city. Hartington Economic Development coordinator Miranda Becker presented a power point highlighting the history of the current city sales tax and the proposed uses for the increased revenue of proposed sales tax. Mayor Mark Becker welcomed the attendees and explained the city’s position on the sales tax, and Chris Miller, president of the Hartington Community Development Corporation, told how economic development has utilized the LB 840 portion of the sales tax as business loans, and industrial and residential improvement projects.
