Dec. 31, 2019: Chinese authorities reported a case of pneumonia with an unknown cause in Wuhan, Hubei province.

Feb. 17, 2020: Thirteen people, all former passengers of the Diamond Princess cruise ship, were brought to Nebraska’s UNMC/Nebraska Medicine Center for the coronavirus. Eleven of those people tested positive. There are currently 35 confirmed cases in the U.S.

Feb. 24, 2020: There are now 14 people being monitored for COVID-19 at UNMC/Nebraska Medicine with the arrival of an additional Diamond Princess evacuee. There are now 53 cases of COVID-19 in the U.S.

March 1, 2020: One person has died in the U.S. of COVID-19. There are now 72 cases in the U.S.

March 3, 2020: Six people have died in the U.S. of COVID-19, all in Washington state. The total of U.S. cases is now at 106.

March 6, 2020: Nebraska has its first case of COVID-19. A 36-year-old woman who traveled to the United Kingdom has been diagnosed with the coronavirus and is now in isolation inside the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit at the Nebraska Medical Center. COVID-19 cases in the U.S. reached 260, with 14 deaths. Globally, cases reached nearly 102,000, with 3,460 deaths.

March 11, 2020: A 16-yearold Crofton boy with existing health conditions was transferred to the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit after a positive COVID-19 test. The U.S. has about 1,050 cases and 29 deaths. Worldwide, cases in 118 countries stand at nearly 122,000 cases, with nearly 4,500 deaths

March 13: One person from the region was admitted Thursday night to the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit. Cases in the U.S. have reached nearly 1,300, with 34 deaths. Worldwide, cases have reached nearly 140,000 in 160 countries, with nearly 5,100 deaths.

March 16: Nebraska now has 18 confirmed cases. Cases in the U.S. have reached about 3,800, with 70 deaths. Worldwide, cases stand at about 175,000, with about 6,700 deaths.
