Thomas F. Riedmiller

RANDOLPH — Thomas F. Riedmiller, 79, Randolph, died Sept. 12, 2018, at Colonial Manor, Randolph. Visitation, with a Christian Wake service, was Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Randolph. Funeral services were Sept. 17 at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph, with Rev. Fr. Timothy Forget officating. Interment was in Saint Jane Frances Catholic Cemetery, Randolph, with Military rites provided by Alvin Kessler V.F.W. Post #5545 and American Legion Post #113, Randolph. Pallbearers were Don Backer, Neil Lackas, Jim Riedel, Derek Kuhl, Mark Korth and Mike Korth. Honorary pallbearers were all Tom’s grandchildren, Madison Riedmiller, Sophia Riedmiller, Dillon Riedmiller, Chase Koepke and Mia Koepke. Tom was born Aug. 21, 1939, at Hospers, Iowa, the son of Tony and Isabel (Jungers) Riedmiller. He graduated from Hospers High School in 1957, and graduated in 1959 from Commercial Extension Business College, Omaha. Tom served in the Air National Guard, 185th unit, Sioux City, Iowa, serving for six years. He married Lynn Fuchtman Sept. 28, 1968, at St. Ludger Catholic Church, Creighton, almost 50 years ago. Tom was employed at the Toy National Bank, Sioux City, for nine years; at Crofton State Bank, Crofton, for six months; at First Trust and Savings Bank, Remsen, Iowa, for about four years; before coming to First State Bank, Randolph. He served there for 29 years, as Executive Vice President, except for his last three years, when he served as First State Bank President. Tom retired in January 2002 after a banking career of 42 years and remained on the Board of Directors of First State Bank. He worked as a part-time van driver for Osmond General Hospital for five years. He thoroughly enjoyed this, to drive, go places and visit with his riders. As a member of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Tom belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council #5143, and served as Grand Knight. He served on the church finance committee for 16 years, as an EME and commentator at Mass, as a C.C.D. teacher and a member of Parish council where he served as President. Tom served his community as a member of the Randolph Community Club, at which he served as President. He was on the Randolph City Council for eight years and served as President. He served as member of Osmond General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, serving as Vice President. He was a member of the American Institute of Banking, Packers (Omaha) Board, and Northeast Nebraska Bankers, serving as President. Tom had many interests, including his family and grandchildren; 1950s music, especially Elvis, and had an extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia. He and Lynn belonged to a couples Pinochle Card Club for several decades. They enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, Europe, Canada and Mexico. Especially enjoyable was spending time in Arizona during winters, in retirement. He was known for keeping cars clean and shining. He was proud of the fact that he had four holes-in-one in golf, and enjoyed his golf and bowling leagues. Survivors include his wife, Lynn Riedmiller, Randolph, just 16 days short of their 50th wedding anniversary; four children, Mike and Carisa Riedmiller, Lincoln; Julie Riedmiller, Denver, Colo.; Cheryl and Shannon Koepke, Elkhorn; and Kim Riedmiller, Lincoln; five grandchildren, Madison, Sophia and Dillon Riedmiller, Lincoln; and Chase and Mia Koepke, Elkhorn; one sister, Dolores Wolbers, Arvada, Colo,; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Tom in death are his parents; brother, Virgil; sister, Blanche Klein; and his grandparents.
