There are plenty of hot hands in this year’s D2 tourney

Posted in:

LINCOLN — Many of Nebraska’s top scorers in Class D2 are traveling down to the state’s capitol on Thursday to begin the girls’ state basketball tournament.

For the second year in a row, the top of the list is led by Allison Weidner of Humphrey St. Francis.

She has 623 points this season, averaging 25 points per game.

She is alone in eclipsing #1 the Oakland-Craig 600-point (25-1) 46.6154) mark. Game 1 – Lincoln North Star

Samantha Moore of Mullen is the next biggest gun in the tourney.

She has hit for 441 points this season, an average of 16.9 points per game.

Wynot is represented by Katelyn Heine, who just slipped onto the Top 10 list with 291 points on the season.

She averages 10.8 points per game to lead the Lady Blue Devils.

Interestingly enough, she was eighth on last year’s Class D2 top scoring list, but last year she had five fewer points on the season.

Several schools have multiple scorers on the Top 10 list.

Mullen has Samantha Moore, at 441 points and Taylor Svoboda at 261.

Sterling has its twin towers of freshman Macy Richardson and Colby Thies. They have dropped in 345 and 340 points, respectively.
