Teaching about Fire Safety

Hartington area school children got a chance Friday to get some up close and personal lessons about fire safety, as members of the Hartington Volunteer Fire Department visited local schools. Several classes also visited the fire hall for a movie and demonstration. Students tried on some of the fire equipment. Local firemen also demonstrated how to stay safe in a fire by crawling on the floor to an exit. The kindergarten classes closed out their day with a ride on the fire truck after touring the fire hall.
