COLERIDGE — Tammy Golay, 61, Coleridge, died Dec. 17, 2023, after a long battle with cancer, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was on Hospice Care.

Funeral services will be Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., at the Faith Community Church, Laurel, with Pastor Doug Collins officiating.

Burial will be at the Lime Creek Cemetery, Maskell.

Visitation will be Friday, from 9-11 a.m., at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Jared Thompson, Trent Thompson, Adam Thompson, Mike Riibe, Brent Hinspeter and Bryan Pryor.

Honorary pallbearers are Tim Thompson and Kip Thompson.

Tammy Jo was born Jan. 27, 1962, in Wayne, to Willis Albert and Phyllis Ann (Burgel) Thompson. She grew up in the Laurel area and attended the Logan View Country School, graduating from Laurel High School in 1980. Tammy married Scott Edmundson in Storm Lake, Iowa, in 1983. Three children were born from this union, Mike, Matthew and Kelly.

Tammy lived in Oldham , S.D., from 1996-2010, where she married Rob Golay, and they lived on Rob’s family farm. Here, she grew a very large garden and raised various livestock. Tammy worked various jobs in the food industry throughout her life. She worked in her children’s school lunch program at Oldham-Ramona, S.D., as well as being a co-business owner with Rob Golay for T&R Floor Care. Tammy moved to Coleridge to be closer to her mother and family in 2013, where she spent her remaining years doing the things she loved with her loved ones.

Tammy also asked that anyone attending the services bring with them the crocheted pieces she’s made through the years, if possible, to showcase her favorite past time.

Tammy liked gardening, knitting, crocheting, hunting and fishing, canning and woodmaking. She enjoyed her Coleridge Coffee Club, and baking and decorating Christmas cookies.

Tammy is survived by her three children, Mike (Kayla Hathaway) Edmundson, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Matthew (Rachel) Edmundson, Ethan, S.D.; Kelly Edmundson, Coleridge; two grandchildren, Jolee and June Edmundson, Ethan, S.D.; her mother, Phyllis Thompson, Laurel; four siblings, Kay Thompson, Laurel; Kip (Deb) Thompson, Randolph; Tim Thompson, Scotland, S.D.; Marge Thompson, Laurel; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Thompson.
