Steven E. Martindale

CONCORD — Steven E. Martindale, 67, Concord, died May 28, 2020, at Mercy One Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa.

Visitation for the public was Monday, at church, and continued one hour prior to services Tuesday. Face coverings were required at church. A private family funeral service was held June 2 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Concord, with Rev. Deb Valentine officiating.

A private family burial was in the Concord Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mitchell Leise, Dayson Tucker, Tyler Tucker, Mike Johnson, Aaron Dietrich and Scott Huetig.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Steven Edson Martindale was born Feb. 26, 1953, in Wakefield, to Gerald “Jerry” and Oral Gail (Hughes) Martindale. He grew up in Concord and graduated from Laurel-Concord High School in 1971. Steven married Judy Faye Wacker July 14, 1972, in Wayne. He worked as a mechanic and owned Steve’s Repair in Concord. He also was an owner/operator for over 30 years and was still actively driving.

Steve was a volunteer fireman in Concord, served as the fire chief, and was a past member of the Concord Village Board. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved to fix and build things. Steve was very talented and could fix or build almost anything. He enjoyed playing cards, going to coffee, and being involved with his grandchildren’s activities. Steven also had a love for his dog, Brewsky.

Steve is survived by his wife, Judy Martindale, Concord; three children, Amber Martindale and boyfriend, Jess Thompson, Wayne; Dane Martindale and fiancé, Becca Koch, Lincoln; Katie Tucker, Sioux City, Iowa; Les Tucker, Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mitchell Leise, Dayson Tucker and Tyler Tucker; sister, Linda “Jo” (Herman) Utecht, Hudson, Colo.; brother, James (Linda) Martindale, Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark Martindale.
