Shirley Darlene Tenney

HARTINGTON — Shirley Darlene Tenney, 84, Hartington, died Feb. 16, 2019, at the Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, with Rev Gary Kimm officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartington City Cemetery at a later date.

Her grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

Shirley was born May 31, 1934, in

Pleasant Valley to Rosella (Beckmann) Albrecht and John Albrecht. She graduated in 1951 from Liberty High School by Pleasant Valley. She worked at Gene Wagnor’s Cream Station, Hartington, after high school. She married Rex Gregg Oct. 25, 1952. She also had worked at Pleasant Valley Store as a cook and waitress from 1960-1965. She was an extremely talented cook, her lunch specials were always sold out. The repeat business was incredible. Shirley also worked at Jim’s Café, Hartington, for a short time. She worked at Dale Electronics, Yankton, S.D., from 1966-1993. She married Gerald Tenney Nov. 25, 1978, in Hartington.

Throughout their lives they lived in Wynot, Denver, Lincoln, Pleasant Valley, and Hartington since 1965. She had been a resident of the Park View Haven Nursing Home since 2016.

She said her best accomplishment was her three daughters. She enjoyed dancing, the Chicago Cubs, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, shuffleboard and most of all gambling.

She is survived by daughters Sherry (Tim) Miller, Yankton, S.D.; Cindy Koupal, Yankton, S.D.; Michelle Waugh, Cleo Springs, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and sister, Carol (Ron) Piechnik, Michigan City, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Tenney, Oct. 17, 2016, at the age of 81; a daughter, Connie Sazama; son, Joe Tenney; parents Rosella and John Albrecht; brother, LeRoy Albrecht; sister, Marcella Albrecht; first husband, Rex Gregg; and best friends, Mary Ann Albrecht, Liz Albrecht and LaVernna Albrecht.
