Sharmalee Pauling-DeRuyscher

PARKVILLE, Mo. — Sharmalee Pauling-DeRuyscher, 73, Parkville, Mo., was suddenly taken from us June 10, 2018. The Visitation and Memorial Service were held June 18, at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, Kansas City. Sharmalee was born Aug. 31, 1944, to Dean and Cleone (Surber) Westadt in Laurel. Sharmalee married Bradley D. Pauling Nov. 19, 1965, in Sioux City, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 23, 2012. She moved to the Kansas City, Mo., area in 2013, making Parkville her new home. Sharmalee married Carl DeRuyscher May 26, 2018, in Leavenworth, Kan. She was a devoted Christian and an active member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Her enjoyments in life were: doing yoga; staying physically active, being an avid walker; and gardening with the Parkville Garden Club. Her children and grandchildren remained a special part of her life and brought many happy moments at family dinners and visits. She spent the majority of her working career as a Real Estate agent. Sharmalee is survived by her son, Daniel Pauling (fiance’ Jasmine Clark), Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Ben Pauling, Matt Pauling and Isabella Girard; a sister, Sharon Rice; and a brother, Jim Westadt (Joan). She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl DeRuyscher, and both parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Platte Woods United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
