Several area Memorial Day events are planned on Monday

HARTINGTON — Several special Memorial Day events are planned here for Monday, May 27.

Steve Keiser, of the Hartington VFW Post, will be master of ceremonies for the programs.

In preparation for the big event, volunteers will hang approximately 180 flags Saturday around the Cedar County Courthouse honoring area veterans. Volunteers are asked to help put the flags up at 1 p.m., Saturday.

Memorial Day services will be held at all area cemeteries and the Courthouse complete with honor guard and a 21-gun salute. Names of all soldiers buried at each cemetery will be read aloud during the ceremonies.
