The search for a new consumer science teacher is now underway

HARTINGTON — The Hartington-Newcastle School Board accepted the resignation Monday of Family and Consumer Science instructor Katie Schutt.

Schutt was hired last year to replace Sue Brodersen, who retired after serving in that post for many years.

A teacher with an emphasis in Consumer Science could not be found, so Schutt agreed to come in and teach the class. She had previously done the same thing. State law mandates that a teacher cannot teach outside of their discipline for more than one year, so Schutt’s resignation was expected.
