Roger Arden Crandall

NORFOLK — Roger Arden Crandall, 75, Norfolk, died Nov. 27, 2020, at his residence.

Visitation was Tuesday, at church until service time.

Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 1 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.

Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.

Pallbearers were Marty Kramer, Zach Kramer, Jeff Sudbeck and Scott DePledge.

Face masks and social distancing were required for the visitation and funeral. Services were also live streamed at www.facebook.com/WintzRay. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Roger Arden was born Aug. 11, 1945, in Hartington, to Arden Leonard and Elizabeth Cecelia (Bracht) Crandall. He attended Hartington Public School. Roger moved to Norfolk in 1971, where he worked for Prenger’s Restaurant. Roger then worked for Mary’s Café from 1981 until after 1997. He then moved to Crofton for a short time while his mother was alive. Roger moved back to Norfolk where he had more room to ride his bike, and to visit his favorite stores and restaurants.

Roger was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. He loved to do oil paintings and woodworking. He painted a lot of ceramics. Roger had a very keen eye for knowing a car’s make, model and year. He rode his bike all over Norfolk and then rode an electric bike. He loved watching various TV shows. Roger collected various ceramic animals and had an extensive collection of model cars.

Roger is survived by his two sisters, Karen (Keith) Kool, Crofton, and Jeanie (Gordon) Johnson, Crofton; five nieces, one nephew, one half-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Judy and Kathy Crandall; a brother, Joseph Crandall; half-sister, Joyce (William) Priebnow; two nieces and one half-niece.
