Rodney Francis Lammers

Hartington — Rodney Francis Lammers, 79, Hartington, died Oct. 15, 2019, at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.

Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 19, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Constance, with Rev. Andy Phan officiating. 

Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Constance. Visitation and a Vigil Service were Friday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and continued Saturday, at church, until service time. 

Pallbearers were Ryan Johnson, Curt Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Ken Thoene, Marcel Kramer and Pat Steffen.

The Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, assisted with the arrangements.

Rodney Francis Lammers was born Jan. 13, 1940, to Alfred Anton and Pauline Teresa (Arens) Lammers in Hartington. He grew up in the Hartington area and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1958. After high school, Rodney farmed with his dad raising livestock and grain. 

Rodney was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was also part of the National Farmer’s Organization and was involved with the Center of Rural Affairs. 

Rodney is survived by a brother, Dennis and Rita Lammers, Blair; two sisters, Jolene and Bill Johnson, Madison, S.D., and Janice and Arlyn Berg, Edgerton, Kan.; and 15 nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin Lammers; and nephew, Brett Lammers.
