The Rodeo Draws a Big Crowd at Cedar County Fair

Posted in:

HARTINGTON - Rain from Wednesday night helped keep the temperature and humidity down on Thursday night for the Cedar County Fair Rodeo. The Fairgrounds were packed with people anxious to see the nights festivities.

Austin Becker and Tyler Dendinger, of Hartington, competed in front of the home crowd in the Team Roping event. The duo nearly fulfilled their task but the steer ultimately got away.

In Junior Barrel Racing, four Cedar County kids competed with great success. Berniece McCorkindale had the fastest time of the Juniors with an 18.828. Berniece and her sister Hattie are both from Laurel, along with Chelsea Potss who also competed. Kody Junck was the only male to compete in the Junior Barrel Racing, and he is from Randolph.

After the Junior Barrel Racing, the Bull Riding event finished the Rodeo and parents and children ran over to the carnival rides to continue their night.
