Robert O. “Bob” Franzen

RANDOLPH — Funeral Service for Robert O. “Bob” Franzen, 83, Randolph, will be 10:30 a.m., April 5, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk, with Pastor Gordon Bruce and Vicar Joshua Mork officiating.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., April 4, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk.

Casket bearers will be Mike Polenkse, Delbert Polenske, Stan Polenske, Tim Polenske, Ronnie Papstein and Mark Nordhues.

Honorary casketbearers will be Doug Marks, Howell Rees, Francis Kurtzals, Ralph Saegebarth, Steve Pojar, Gerald Henzler and Frank Gray, as well as great-nieces and -nephews. Bob died March 29, 2019, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk.

Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk, is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert O. “Bob” Franzen was born Jan. 11, 1936, in rural Wayne County, to Otto and Bertha Magdalena (Papstein) Franzen. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion East Lutheran Church, rural Hoskins. He attended School Districts 74 and 46 in Wayne County.

Robert farmed all his life south of Randolph on the family farm. He raised cattle and hogs. He also worked for the Howell Rees and Eldred Pentico farms. He retired from farming in 1996. Robert enjoyed going to dances, farm sales, threshing bees, county fairs, tractor pulls and auto races in Norfolk. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce.

Survivors include a sister, Arlene and Darrell Polenske, Norfolk; nephews, Mike (Marchele) Polenske, Bancroft; Delbert (Carol) Polenske, Bancroft; Stan (Cheri) Polenske, Waverly; and Tim (Susie) Polenske, Wisner; and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto, in 1964, and Bertha, in 2002.
