Robert M. Wiechelman

COLERIDGE - Robert M. Wiechelman, 82, Coleridge, died March 6, 2021, at Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel.

A Prayer Service for family and close friends was held March 9, at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, with the Rev. Russ Lambert officiating, followed by visitation for family and close friends at the Wintz Funeral Home. Face masks and social distancing were required.

Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Robert Maynard Wiechelman was born Nov. 8, 1938, in Hartington, to Clem and Mary (Haase) Wiechelman. He attended Holy Trinity High School, Harlington. He enlisted and served for four years in the United States Air Force. He received his bachelor of science and master’s degree from UNO, and taught elementary school with Omaha Public Schools for many years. He married Irlene L. Sauser Oct. 24, 1964, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph. Upon retirement, they moved back to Coleridge. He and Lente loved to travel and Bob was an avid golfer.

Robert is survived by his wife, Irlene, Coleridge; a sister, Mildred Beckman, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lynn Wiechelman, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Shirley Kuchta, Randolph; Robert (Sandie) Sauser , Randolph; Sharon Sherer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Mary Wiechelman; brothers, Irwin (Donna) Wiechelman, Art (Patty) Wiechelman, Dennis (Marilyn) Wiechelman, Duane “Butch” Wiechelman, and Richard Raymond Wiechelman in infancy; sister, Wilma (Blaine) Berry; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Kuchta and William Beckman.
