Robert John “Bob” Krei

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Robert John “Bob” Krei, 73, Sioux City, Iowa, died April 14, 2023, after a serious fall with failing health, at a local care center.

Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at the Laurel Cemetery.

Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Bob was born June 6, 1949, in Laurel, the son of Walter and Lora Mae (Sovereign) Krei. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1967, and was drafted by the United States Army, serving in Vietnam as a medic for two years. After returning from Vietnam, Bob enrolled in a technical school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked as a carpenter for a short time before becoming an operator at the Sioux City Water Treatment Plant, where he retired from after more than 30 years of work.

Survivors include his daughter, Amber Carlson, Florida; three grandchildren, Cash, Gavin and Kennedy; his sister, LaVonne Madsen, Laurel; two brothers, Darrell (Anita) Krei, Ankeny, Iowa, and Dale (JoAnn) Krei, South Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
