Richard L. Lyon

NORFOLK — Funeral services for Richard L. Lyon, 62, Norfolk, were April 1 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Norfolk.

Interment was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk.

Casketbearers were Mike Kloucek, Kenneth Carda, Brad Carda, Craig Kuehler, Brent Kuehler and Troy Sherman.

Visitation and a Rosary were March 31, at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk.

Richard died March 26, 2019, at the Faith Regional Hospital, Norfolk.

Born Sept. 21, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa, Richard was the son of Glen and Phyllis (Denby) Lyon. He attended grade school in Des Moines, and he later received his G.E.D. He married Mary Kuehler June 4, 1977, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley. After marriage, Richard and Mary lived in Norfolk. Richard worked at Affiliated Foods from 1976 until he retired in 2015.

Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and farming. He touched the lives of many during his years of involvement with the Boy Scouts of America.

He was a member of Sacred Heart-Saint Mary’s Parish, Norfolk.

Survivors include his spouse, Mary Lyon, Norfolk; children, Bill Lyon, Norfolk; Bob (Mindy) Lyon, Norfolk; Chris (Khara) Lyon, Norfolk; Lori (Neil) Bruns, Norfolk; and Teri (Marshall) Zastro, Mooresville, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Aleksander Lyon, Katelyn and Jacob Lyon, Korbin Maertins and Garret Lyon, Kennedy and Cameron Bruns and Parker and Paxton Zastrow; his mother, Phyllis Lyon, Norfolk; a sister, Beverly Owings, Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter, Mariah Lyon.
