Ponca works its way through loser’s bracket to make title game

HARTINGTON — Ponca took the long road to the championship game in this year’s Area C1 baseball tourney. Ponca had to fight its way back from a first-round loss to advance to the title game. After a rough sixth inning in Friday’s tourney opener which saw Ponca plate four runs to make it a 5-5 tie, Crofton bounced back in their half of the frame to earn the goahead run, then held on to earn the 6-5 win. Landon Wieseler started on the mound for Crofton, but Justin Potts came on in relief to earn the win. Ponca’s Caydon Phillips suffered the loss.
