WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils would hang with Guardian Angel Central Catholic in the first half, but West Point got their offense rolling in the second half, outscoring the Blue Devils 48-20 in the second half, as they cruised to the 73-43 win.

A 51- 26 advantage in rebounds by the much taller Angels was a big factor in the game as well.

Wynot’s Anthony Haberman would lead all scorers with 16 points. Peyton Wieseler also hit double figures with 13 points and Trystan Heimes helped the Blue Devils by contributing eight points. Jack Kuchta led his team in rebounding with eight boards.

For GACC, it was a balanced attack led by Ben Ulrich and Cody Steffen, with 15 and 13 points respectively. Nate Niewhoner and Adam Reeson each just missed double figures with nine points.

Wynot got five points by Peyton Wieseler and baskets by Owen Sudbeck and Anthony Haberman as they clung to a 10-8 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter, the game flowed back and forth. GACC got five points from Blake Pojar and four points from Adam Reeson, Wynot countered with a pair of treys by Anthony Haberman and buckets by Trystan Heimes and Peyton Wieseler. The Angels took a 25-23 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Blue Devils could only manage to score seven points, all of them coming from Anthony Haberman.

Meanwhile, GACC got eight points from Cody Steffen and five points by Ben Ulrich to fuel a 21-7 run and build their lead to 46-38 going into the final period of play.

In the fourth quarter, Wynot got six more points from Trystan Heimes at the low post and five points by Peyton Wieseler. GACC got hot and lead by 10 points from Ben Ulrich and five points from Brendan Rief, along with balanced scoring, as they pulled away for the 73-43 win.
