Planetarium Holiday Season continues at WSC

Posted in:

WAYNE — The Fred G. Dale Planetarium at Wayne State College will continue its 2019 holiday season with “The Sistine Chapel’’ at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13; “The Christmas Star” at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14; “Season of Light’’ at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15, 21 and 22; and “The Longest Night,’’ a special show for kids, at 7 p.m. on Dec. 20.

“Season of Light” traces the history and development of many of the world’s most endearing holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season.

“The Sistine Chapel” is a historical and deeply moving show that provides explanations of all Michelango’s works in one of the most amazing places on Earth. “The Christmas Star” searches for an astronomical explanation for what the wise men saw in the sky at the birth of Jesus. A special show for kids – “The Longest Night” is a one-of-a-kind show that captures its audience with a timeless fable of courage, generosity and renewal. Its story explores the concept that winter is a time for Earth to rest, waiting for new growth in the spring.

The show informs audience members about the Winter Solstice.

These holiday shows are free to the public; free-will donations are appreciated. For more information, see www.wsc.edu/planetariumor contact Dr. Todd Young at toyoung1@wsc.edu.
