Pierce County Fair hits entertainment bullseye

PIERCE – Bull fighting and bull riding will hit the bullseye for fun entertainment at this year’s Pierce County Fair.

Along with entertainment, and carnival games and rides scheduled every day, there’s a full lineup of 4-H events for the 2023 fair set for Wednesday, July 26, through Sunday, July 30.

4-H’ers will be entering their projects to kick off the fair with interview judging on Wednesday, July 26. Team roping is set for 5 p.m.

Thursday, July 27, events start with a pancake breakfast with multiple 4-H animal shows scheduled throughout the day – beef showmanship and the 4-H breeding beef show, companion animal show, cat show and dog show. The Outlaw Pulling Association will feature five classes in a grandstand show starting at 7 p.m.

Another pancake breakfast kicks off Friday, July 28, followed by the swine, sheep and goat shows, and the horse and dairy shows. Livestock judging and the livestock sale rounds out the 4-H events that day.

The Horn T Zoo will be on the fairgrounds. Friday night will feature Extreme Bull Fighting starting at 8 p.m.

The bull fighting is a physical contest between bull and bullfighter with fighters performing acrobatic stunts around the 1,000-pound animals to earn points.

After the event, the No Drinking on Grounds Band will play in the beer garden.

Fun continues into Saturday, July 29, with the 4-H rabbit, poultry and bucket calf shows. The style revenue and awards ceremony will also take place that day.

A mud volleyball tournament, kids pedal pull and Double S Extreme Bull Riding rounds out that Saturday’s entertainment. The balloon lady, Colors Da Clown and Horn T Zoo will be on the grounds for additional entertainment. Black Top Pony will play in the beer garden after bull riding.

The last day of the fair – Sunday, July 30 – will feature FFA hog wrestling, an ATV rodeo and a demolition derby.

If you missed the balloon lady, clown or zoo, you have one more chance Sunday before the fair closes.

A staple of the Pierce County Fair is bingo. Games will be played every day.
