HARTINGTON — Paul Albert Young, 73, Hartington, died Feb. 16, 2023. A memorial service, led by Deacon Shane Kleinschmit, was held Feb. 20 at Goglin Funeral Home, Yankton, S.D.

Inurnment was in the Gayville Cemetery. Goglin Funeral Home of Yankton, www.goglinfh.com was honored to serve the family and friends of Paul Young. Paul Albert Young was born March 11, 1949, to Albert and Inga (Larson) Young in Yankton. Paul attended grade school in Gayville and then high school at Augustana Academy, Canton, S.D. After graduation, Paul farmed with his father. He was a member of the Tri State Old Iron Association. Paul loved to buy and restore John Deere Tractors. Paul was a farmer, but also spent years as a truck driver. He enjoyed visiting and sharing stories of his travels. Paul had a strong work ethic and took great pride in all of his work, especially his Peterbilt trucks. His motto was “Take care of what you have, it will take care of you.”

Paul married Kathy Heimes Sept. 28, 2013. Paul was a private person in terms of his faith; however he had a strong belief in and personal relationship with God. He had many special friendships throughout his life. His wife, children, grandchildren and step grandchildren were what he held dearest to his heart.

Paul is survived by his wife, Kathy, Hartington; sons, Scott (Allison Allie) Young,Naples, Fla.; Jeffrey (Alexandra) Young, West Fargo, N.D.; and John (Lesley) Young, Phoenix, Ariz.; step daughters, Kimberly (Nick) Parks, Omaha; and Mindy (Jason) Peitzmeier, Omaha; step sons, Kyle Heimes, Wynot, and Tyler (Shannon) Heimes, Hartington; sisters, JoEtta Kurtz, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Teresa Emerson, Lebanon, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michael, Madeline and Maxwell Young; Arianna, Kaitlyn, Kinslee, Nixen, Dysen, Ayslee and Harley Heimes; Makenna and Kennedy Parks; and Lincoln and Ellie Peitzmeier; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Liz Walsh and Mary Young; brothers-in-law, Marvin Kurtz and Robert Walsh.
