Patriotic quilt will be raffled off to aid Veterans’ Memorial

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Veterans Memorial is getting another boost in its fundraising efforts as it closes in on the remaining $25,000 needed for the memorial construction.

Pearson Motors Co. in Hartington is taking the initiative to conduct a raffle whereby the total raffle proceeds will be matched one for one by Pearson Motor Co. to help toward the cost of the memorial.

Robin Pearson handcrafted a Patriotic Quilt of American flags and came up with the idea of conducting a raffle to benefit the Hartington Veterans Memorial in the final months of the fundraising campaign for the memorial.

The completion of the Veterans Memorial is targeted for this coming fall in time for the planned dedication of the memorial on Veterans Day of this year.

The Patriotic Quilt is currently on display at Pearson Motors in the auto showroom area with raffle tickets available at $5 each or five tickets for $20.

“Our target is to try and sell $1,000.00 worth of raffle tickets so that we can match the proceeds of the raffle with an additional $1,000 or whatever amount the raffle receipts happen to come to which we hope exceeds our goal,” Robin Pearson said. “This Veterans Memorial will be a great addition to Hartington as we honor our veterans who have sacrificed so much on our behalf to protect the precious freedom we enjoy as a country. This raffle is just another way we can show our appreciation to our veterans.”

The Patriotic Quilt Raffle will run through Labor Day.

Raffle tickets are available now at Pearson Motors Co. and they will be sold at various venues through the summer in and around Hartington.
