Patrick E. Mallat

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Patrick E. Mallatt, 88, Fayetteville, Ark., died Aug. 4, 2018, after a long illness, at the home of his daughter, Ann, who was by his side, and son-in-law, Mark Killenbeck, in Fayetteville, Ark. Pat was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Hartington, to the late Dale and Marie (Uhing) Mallatt. He spent his early life in Wynot, and then graduated from Laurel High School. He married Joan Ericson August 7, 1954, in Laurel.After five years in U.S. Navy, serving as radar approach control operator, including at Port Lyautey French Morocco, he entered the University of Nebraska, where he graduated with honors. Pat worked for 32 years in Lincoln Public Schools teaching math, electronics and aeronautics, and was chosen by colleagues at Lincoln East and Lincoln Northeast as Teacher of the Year. Pat is survived by his wife, Joan (Ericson) Mallatt, Lincoln; their two children, Jeff Mallatt, Arlington, Mass., and Ann (Mark) Killenbeck, Fayetteville, Ark.; one granddaughter, Jessica Killenbeck; two brothers, L.J. “Ole” Mallatt, Laurel, and William (Janet) Mallatt, South Sioux City; and two sisters, Shirley (Marlen) Kraemer, Laurel, and Saundra (Melvin) Bottger, Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Gerald Mallatt, and wife, Phyllis; and Marian, wife of L.J. Mallatt. Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Springdale, Ark.
