Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway hosts 19th Annual Meeting

HARTINGTON — Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway Highway 12 board members, general membership and guests met April 15 for a tour of the newly renovated Hotel Hartington. At noon, those in attendance participated in a buffet luncheon, where speaker, author Julie Meirose, shared information regarding the inspiration and publication process of her book, “History of Hartington.” Julie’s book was available for purchase.

The Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway HWY 12-2019 Annual Membership Communications Meeting was called to order by President Connie Larrington. Board members present included, Connie Larrington-President-Keya Paha; Marci Broyhill-Secretary-Dakota; Mary Eiler-Treasurer-General Membership; Marilyn Janovec-Knox; Angie Peitz-Cedar; Sharon Bruegman-Boyd; Rhonda Kneifl-Dixon; Cherry County-Vacant, and 14 other individuals from the general membership and guests for a total of 21 people present.

An eight-page handout was available to those in attendance which included: 1) minutes from the Eighteenth Annual Membership Communications Meeting held April 6, 2018, 2) OTSB 2018 Annual Financial Report and 3) OTSB 2018 Annual Report. President Larrington reviewed these three documents with attendees. Marilyn made one motion to accept the three documents. Angie seconded. No discussion. Motion passed.

Treasurer, Mary gave an update on transactions that occurred January 1-April 15, 2019.

New business included election of directors. A slate of candidates for board directors was presented as follows: Keya Paha-Connie Larrington; Boyd-Sharon Brugeman; Knox-Marilyn Janovec; Cedar-Angie Peitz; Dixon-Rhonda Kneifl; Dakota-Marci Broyhill; General Membership-Mary Eiler; Cherry-Vacant, and the slate of directors was approved.

At the next regular business meeting, directors will designate and install officers

for the 2019-2020 year. OTSB is still looking for an individual to fill the Cherry County vacancy.

Other points of note: President Larrington gave special remembrance to Al Brock, an OTSB member who passed away Dec. 12, 2018. Brad Conrad, Newcastle, has a little white pony, named Houdini who does tricks and is making appearances in the area. Northeast Nebraska Bargain Jaunt will be the last weekend in April. Area flooding issues were discussed. Some communities have created t-shirts for flood-fund-raising efforts.

President Connie Larrington and board member, Rhonda Kneifl acknowledged and thanked the board for their work and support given to the organization to benefit OTSB communities.

The next regular OTSB business meeting will be 10:30 a.m., May 13, in the Niobrara Library.
