Norma (Peterson) Rickett

PONCA — Norma (Peterson) Rickett, Ponca, died April 6, 2021, at a local hospital.

A memorial service will be held April 16, at 7 p.m., at Gospel Chapel, Newcastle.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., at the church.

Mohr Funeral Home, Ponca, is handling the arrangements.

Norma was born Nov. 15, 1936, in rural Allen, to Earl and Hazel (McCaw) Peterson. She graduated from Dixon in 1954. She attended Wayne State College and taught in rural schools. She was a nurse’s aide in Wakefield Community Hospital and worked for Ponca Schools for 29 years.

Norma married Dean Rickett in 1962, and they had three children, Douglas, Karla and Dennis.

Norma is survived by her children, Douglas (Jody) Rickett, Ponca; Karla (David) Kardell, Laurel; and Dennis (Tina) Rickett, Ponca; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy (Loren) Park, Wayne; Mary Park, Mt. Vernon, S.D.; and Ardith (Joe) Schmidt, Norfolk.

She is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, one brother, four brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials be directed to the Dean and Norma Rickett Family Endowment with the Ponca Community Education Foundation.
